Cath and Ian’s Camino and beyond 2018

Well we are today 5 weeks away from leaving for Europe.  Flying out of Melbourne near midnight on Tuesday, August 28th.

With Paris as our first destination, we will meet up with our friends Frances and Mick to visit some city sites before travelling south together by train to meet our great friends the Fullers.

After a few days of rest our aim is to start walking on the 6th of September.

This time we are planning to walk from Le Puy in France to St Jean Pied De Port  (our 2009 starting point).  Again, its around 800 ks and we expect it to take us over 30 days to complete the distance.

The first week of walking we will also be sharing the trail with Frances and Mick which will be a great introduction to the long days of walking ahead of us.

Our first day will be around 16 ks covering the trail between Le Puy and Montbonnet.

Whilst we are 9 years older and more prone to soreness and injury  than last time we are hoping our experience and wisdom will get us there.

Here is a picture of Cath and me preparing for our first day of walking back then – 9 years ago in St Jean Pied De Port .

We hope to download pictures regularly and keep everyone up to date with where we are,  what we are doing, how many blisters and more.

Our aim is to complete the Le Puy Camino and then move onto some train travel through Europe visiting Poland, Czech Republic, Bratislava and Hungary before finishing up in the UK.

Hope you will find it all interesting and look forward to hearing from you along the way.
