Friday 31st August
Last day in Paris. We met Mick and Frances to do a walk along the Promenade Plantee which is an elevated garden built on a disused rail line viaduct.
A great walk through all sorts of vegetation providing a lovely way of moving through a section of Paris. There were many locals using the route for their exercise as well as tourists like us soaking the views of Paris life from above
We covered around 10 kilometres walking the streets before lunch. Around 1pm we collected our bags which had been stored at our hotel and walked over to the Gare de Lyon station to join the thousands of people boarding trains to travel all over France and beyond. Our train left at 2.50 pm. Frances had pre bought the tickets so we had our seat numbers all ready. Still, we had to pry some one out of one our seats before we could settle down for the trip to Beaune. Arriving at 5pm we were met by our friend Ernie and soon we were at Chris and Ernie’s beautiful home in the little hamlet of Cisse.
In the evening we celebrated Ernie’s birthday at one of the local restaurants enjoying wonderful food and wines. A fantastic night.
