Sunday 9th September
We spent last night in La Clauze at a fantastic Gite with many other Pilgrims who once again we’re all French speaking but several could speak English as well so we were able to enjoy our communal dinner and get engaged in the conversations. Most were very sunburned from the hot sun.
This morning we got up at 7 am and quickly sorted our packs and selves. We organised for one of packs to be sent with Mick and Frances cases onto this evenings accomodation. This allowed Cath to walk without any weight to help with her sore legs from the previous days. It was another warm day of about 24 with bright sunshine .All went well on the 15 ks we covered today including an early lunch along the way of a Pilgrims meal for 10 euros ( meats, bread, cheeses, bread, tart, bread and coffee). Later in the day we also had a welcome can of coke and ice cream in the heat.
There were a fair few rocky hills but mainly we were walking along gentle ups and downs through pine forests and dairy farm laneways. We also saw several men carrying their hunting guns accompanied by their hounds. We found out it was the opening of the hunting season today. Not sure what they shoot as we have seen little apart from small birds, slugs, ants and a skink.
Saw some great cows again who look very contented with life.
Looking forward to dinner now after enjoying a hot shower and putting on some clean clothes.
