Cath and Ian’s travels 2018

Tuesday 25th September

We decided to travel along the coast again today and aimed for Weymouth. Very soon we saw a turn to Lyme Regis so followed the signs to another picturesque fishing village. This was really unexpected and as we were early parking was not an issue. We walked out in the Cobb which was a massive breakwater full of colourful boats. Had our morning coffee and continued onto Weymouth via the small coastal road and came across some fairly wild country with great views in each direction and especially the long spit running parallel with the beach right through to Weymouth. The weather today was spectacular which made for a great reflection on the open sea.

We arrived in Weymouth which is a very large town and as we have with several of the larger places struggled to find a car park so followed the signs and pretty much did circles and ended up leaving the town after half an hour.

We headed north and kept to the minor roads ending up for lunch at the Swan Inn.

Returning to our hotel the White Hart near Honiton for a nap before drinks and dinner.

They had brought in some Guinness during the day so we settled in for a hour or so before getting involved in the Tuesday night quiz. The staff and customers here have Turned out to be so friendly and we have really enjoyed our couple of days with them We joined a team of 4 locals for the quiz and had the standard Tuesday burgers and got to know some great people, one of which had been Phillip Island in the past. Our team won the quiz so we pocketed 10 pounds as well

We’re off to see my relatives in Stroud today but will drop in at Tetbury first to see my grandparents grave stones and remember my childhood.
