Friday 12th October
We had a wonderful day today wandering around Paris.
Starting around 830am we left our apartment and walked for hours. First stop was the Shakespeare and Company book shop which we had seen on a previous visit but never had time to explore inside the. I managed to buy a book this time. Here is its short description from Wikipedia.
Shakespeare and Company is an English-language bookshop in the heart of Paris, on the banks of the Seine, opposite Notre-Dame. Since opening in 1951, it’s been a meeting place for anglophone writers and readers, becoming a Left Bank literary institution.
Next door is a small coffee shop so we had our breakfast coffee and tea there to start the day.
From there we walked round and round and up and down through the city finally resting for lunch alongside the river Seine where we watched the passing life, bikes and cars.
We were now a long way from out apartment so decided to take the Hop on Hop off bus which took us on a large loop past many of the iconic locations, but importantly we were able to hop off closer to our apartment.
We eventually arrived back around 4 and rested our feet and legs before heading out to a bar around 6 and then to a recommended restaurant at 715 for dinner.
A great day was had. Paris is starting to feel very familiar and comfortable to us now.
Off to Poland tomorrow.
