Queen Charlotte Walk – South Island – New Zealand 2012

On the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of February 2012 our friends Dave and Gail joined us for yet another adventure completing the Queen Charlotte Walk.  The walk it self was very picturesque as you will see by this picture story which is dominated by scenery shots.  Each day was fairly drizzly but bearable and involved quite difficult walks (ups and downs) although our main gear was transported each day by boat.

Accommodation was varied but did provide us with hot showers and good beds.

Starting in Picton we were transported to the start and picked up at the end by water taxi.   See the fins of dolphins in the picture spotted on day one from the water taxi.

It was good to catch up with a fellow Camino walker and on the last day.

Early in the trip it was exciting to see the Weka’s (large bird) on the track but by day 4 these were becoming a bit of pain every time it looked like food was coming out of our packs.

Thanks to Dire Straits for music
